Tigers and camels and wolves, oh, my! Just under an hour from school, this little zoo entertained some of our littles from Children’s House last week. They got a chance to say “aloha!” up close and personal to the Cameron home of over 300 wild animals.

New friends at the Aloha Zoo in Cameron, NC

But the Aloha Zoo isn’t just any zoo! They take in previously injured, abandoned, abused, neglected, or unable-to-be-cared-for animals from near and far.

And on this particular rain-soaked day, CH3 had a blast feeding some of their biggest residents, even their tallest one in the Giraffe House named Titan. But they had to be sure to keep their hats and umbrellas out of his reach. It seems he likes to take souvenirs from visitors just for fun!

A walk through the Reptile Room revealed more strange creatures like bearded dragons, Burmese pythons, and iguanas. And after making friends with exotic birds, zebras, ostriches, antelope, donkeys, llamas, water buffalo, and even some animals you’ve never heard of, it was time to head back to home base. What a ‘wild’ day they all had!
